Amanzimtoti CPF, Athlone Park CPF Sub-Forum, Toti Berea CPF Sub-Forum, Toti Central CPF Sub-Forum, Doonside Neighbourhood Watch and St Winifreds CPF Sub-Forum were joined by Blue Security Durban in the operation which ran from 02:00 to 04:00.

Dane de Klerk of the Toti Central CPF Sub-Forum said that residents must be visible because a vigilant community deters crime. One person was arrested for copper theft and for carrying a weapon.

“Join your local security company and your local CPF, and become part of the solution,” said De Klerk.

In a statement, the Amanzimtoti CPF commended those who participated in the operation.

“We recognise every patroller and security officer who patrols every night during the hours when few are awake and many feel vulnerable. Your dedication and sacrifices make Amanzimtoti a safer town,” it said.

The suspect was handed over to the Amanzimtoti Police where he was charged and arrested while further investigations continue.
