According to Sarel Taljaard, chairperson of the complex, Shenge will be remembered for the hard work and dedication he has shown towards ensuring the complex is neat and tidy at all times.

One of the residents, Madie Taljaard, said she will remember Shenge for his sense of humour. “His laugh was contagious,” she said.

The residents contributed to Shenge’s pension fund to ensure that he is set for life. “We also organised a braai and a cash contribution for Shenge and his wife, Elsie, who also assisted the residents with keeping the inside of the units clean,” said Sarel.
