Lower Illovo residents dive into the poor condition of the public swimming pool which has not functioned for the past three years.

Alvin Tagat and Austin Gounden said the pool has been out of service for three years. While the tall grass and weeds have been cut,  the pool has stagnant water and algae, making it a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

In response, eThekwini’s spokesperson, Gugu Sisilana, said a contractor has been appointed to reinstate the power supply as the facility currently has no electricity. She added that the contractor was on-site last on January 23, and confirmed that repairs will commence on January 29.
