Non-profit organisation Love Toti’s nostalgia-fuelled restoration project at the once grand Amanzimtoti family fixture kicked into gear once more as volunteers sprung into action.
Work on the day was embraced by members of Billy Holm Fabrications and residents of Amanzimtoti Community Upliftment (Amcup).
Nastasia van der Berg of Love Toti said that the sanctuary is a special spot full of memories from family picnics and school trips.
“As of late, it’s become a bit of a forgotten gem. As our first big project, Love Toti decided it was time to get this natural treasure back to its former glory so that the community can enjoy nature again,” said Van der Berg.
During the past months the NPO brought on loyal volunteers and welcomed aid from countless community members. Van der Berg gave sincere thanks to volunteers, past and present, as well as a big shoutout to Billy Holm and his crew, and to Amcup for its help planting new flowers and varnishing the walls.
“Our goal is simple, to restore the park’s natural beauty and ensure the birds have a safe, vital home again. We want the community to start enjoying the small things that Amanzimtoti has to offer and we’re committed to working with eThekwini Municipality to keep the park welcoming for everyone for years to come,” concluded Van der Berg.
