Exercise caution during inclement weather

The community is urged to exercise caution and stay off the streets if possible during inclement weather.

Residents are urged to stay off the streets if possible due to reports of flooding and fallen trees around Amanzimtoti today (February 7).

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge confirmed that due to the inclement weather, there are area power outages stretching across town.

Residents have reported fallen trees along several roads as well as flooding along Kingsway Road in the surrounds of the CBD.

“Exercise caution if driving is absolutely necessary and expect delays in service delivery reconnections,” said Beetge.

According to the South African Weather Service, the dire weather conditions are expected to continue on February 8, with expectations of heavy rains, damaging winds and severe thunderstorms causing localised flooding, disruption of service delivery and mudslides, among other impacts.
