Hijacked municipal vehicle recovered in Folweni

After a municipal vehicle was hijacked, metro and Folweni police mobilised, tracking the vehicle down to a house in Folweni.

AFTER an eThekwini Municipality vehicle was hijacked in uMbumbulu several weeks ago, Metro Police Highway Division mobilised and tracked it down to a house in Folweni on February 7. A case was opened by Folweni police for further investigation.

eThekwini Municipality’s communication directorate confirmed that following a tip-off, swift and co-ordinated action led metro police, joined by Folweni police, to a house in Folweni, where officers located the vehicle, which was positively identified as the one hijacked weeks ago in uMbumbulu.

A search of the property led to the recovery of three additional vehicles and significant evidence, including:

  • Three firearms
  • Three signal jammers
  • A stack of log book copies
  • Multiple vehicle parts.

No suspects were found in the house.
