eThekwini ready for Easter weekend

eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba joined an Isipingo operation with the aim to prepare the city for the Easter weekend.

ETHEKWINI Municipality is geared up for a bumper Easter holiday, with Mayor Cyril Xaba assuring residents and visitors that the city has left nothing to chance in preparing for a safe, incident-free weekend.

Xaba joined a multi-disciplinary operation in Isipingo yesterday (April 2) aimed at boosting road safety and ensuring a safe Easter weekend. He stressed the importance of visible policing and cautioned against lawlessness, particularly drinking and driving.

During the operation, 2 000 vehicles were stopped. Of these, 100 were fined for defects, 15 for moving violations, and several summonses were issued. Police also effected 22 arrests for outstanding warrants and detained five drivers.
