Amanzimtoti CPF teaches children about personal safety

The children were also taught important helpline numbers and encouraged to speak up if they ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

THE Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum (ACPF) recently hosted a social crime-prevention session for children at Tecoma Pre-Primary in Winklespruit, focusing on teaching young learners important personal safety skills in a fun and interactive way.

According to the ACPF, the session included question-and-answer activities, songs and bubble-blowing exercises to help keep the children engaged while learning about safety awareness.

Topics covered during the programme included personal safety and body boundaries, identifying “tricky people” instead of only focusing on stranger danger, recognising early warning signs from their bodies, understanding safe and unsafe secrets, and identifying trusted adults who form part of their safety network.

The children were also taught important helpline numbers and encouraged to speak up if they ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

In a statement, the ACPF said they enjoyed spending time with the children at the school and described the session as both educational and enjoyable.

The CPF encouraged schools interested in hosting similar safety awareness sessions to contact them via email at pro@toticpf.org.za
