Next phase of Terricia’s search to begin
After arriving back in South Africa on September 20, Linda Govender said the next phase of the search will begin soon.
WHILE it has been over a month since Isipingo Beach resident Terricia Govender went missing as a result of a flash flood she was caught in while on a pilgrimage in Nepal and Tibet, her mother has recently returned from overseas after helping look for her.

Linda Govender recently undertook the difficult journey to Nepal, where for a week she was on the ground working alongside rescue workers as they looked for the 88-member group of pilgrims that Terricia was part of. Accompanied by her brother Selva Govender and Terricia’s friend Sashin Maharaj, they spent days searching in hospitals, rescue centres and flood-hit areas across Nepal.
After arriving back in South Africa on September 20, Linda said the next phase of the search will begin soon. They are currently waiting for permission from Chinese authorities before travelling to Tibet. This comes after confirmation that when the flood hit, Terricia’s group was on the Tibetan side of the border.
The flash flood was triggered after a Himalayan glacier collapsed near the Tibetan border on August 27, sending a massive surge of water, ice, rock, and mud through mountain valleys.
