Hijacked vehicle recovered in Illovo township

A hijacked vehicle involved in a collision along the R603 was recovered by Amanzimtoti police and local security companies.

A HIJACKED vehicle was recovered in Illovo township along the R603 today (October 23) by Amanzimtoti police and local security companies.

According to Bevan van Vuuren, of the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO), at about 11:00, Amanzimtoti police crime prevention members relayed information via the CCPO radio network regarding a possible wanted vehicle involved in a collision.

“Well-collaborated communication via ET’s tactical response team and police crime prevention led our CCPO shift vehicle to the location, and the vehicle was successfully recovered,” said Van Vuuren.

He added that Umlazi trio task team and KwaMakhutha police members apprehended one suspect.

“The vehicle was established as hijacked the previous day,” said Van Vuuren. He thanked each unit involved.
