Residents are urged to stockpile water and prepare for a planned water outage in the coming days.

A WATER shutdown has been scheduled for two Ward 97 reservoirs to facilitate maintenance and parts replacements on July 31 and August 1.

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge said the first outage is scheduled for 07:30 to 16:00 in Amanzimtoti in areas fed from the Lewis Drive Reservoir.

“A Length of pipe on the 375mm trunk main is to be replaced at the Khotho Mkhunya and Fynn Roads intersection, as well as the replacement of a 150mm isolating valve at the Khotho Mkhunya and Wanda Cele Roads intersection,” said Beetge.

The supply line to the Lewis Drive Reservoir is to be closed at the Toti Water Works (TWW), affecting Wade Road offtake, high-lying areas of Lewis Drive, areas off Isundu Drive, and Wanda Cele up to Woodhouse and Dan Pienaar Drive.

“From 07:00 to 16:00 on August 1, the Almond Road reservoir in Warner Beach will be closed to attend to a bad leak on the high-pressure line from TWW to the reservoir. This will affect the high-lying areas off Almond Road, the area next to the R603 down to Point Place, Uitsig Road, and Lower Illovo reservoir,” said Beetge.

He added that all needed materials have been arranged and are on hand.
