Budget allocated for Prospecton’s damaged sewer pipe

The multi-million rand budget has been allocated to repair the storm-damaged sewer line in Prospecton.

AN OVERSIGHT visit to Prospecton to assess a storm-damaged sewer pipe was conducted recently, led by the chairperson of the Trading Services Committee, councillor Mdu Nkosi. Other committee members joined him.

Nkosi said a budget of R10m has been allocated to repair the damaged sewer line. The work is expected to take seven days and will be carried out during off-peak hours to minimise traffic disruptions.

“Prospecton is an important industrial node for the municipality and a key economic hub for the city,” said Nkosi.

He added that the repairs will significantly reduce the risk of sewer leaks and potential pollution. He also noted that a delegation led by eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba held a productive meeting with Toyota management in August to provide an update on infrastructure restoration in Prospecton.

“The Toyota team welcomed the progress and assured us that they have no intention of relocating. Following our oversight visit, we are pleased with the progress of the work done so far,” he said.
