Metro police spokesperson, Colonel Boysie Zungu, said the operation was conducted at Wanda Cele Road, where a fine was issued for failure to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in contravention of the relevant municipal by-laws.
“Members also removed illegal structures that were unlawfully erected on the pavement, obstructing pedestrian movement and public access. Expired goods were further discovered and removed from the premises, and the owner was charged accordingly,” said Zungu.
He added that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to promote public health, environmental cleanliness, and compliance with municipal regulations within communities.
“Residents and businesses are urged to maintain clean and hygienic surroundings, ensure goods sold are fit for consumption, and refrain from erecting illegal structures on public spaces,” he said.
