Operation Bobbi Bear children excel in school
Despite the organisations' daily challenges, when they see the children's reports they know they are making a difference.
DESPITE going through abuse at the hands of those closest to them, the resilient children at Operation Bobbi Bear still achieved distinctions on their school report.
Operation Bobbi Bear is a human rights organisation committed and dedicated to working with and assisting sexually abused children. ‘Do we just give or do we just keep going day by day’, a daily mental war that the team is faced with.

Operation Bobbi Bear director, Eureka Olivier says every day is a challenge, with sleepless nights, a daily fight for survival, a house full of children and no funding.
She says they question themselves all the time. “Are we making a difference? Are we really doing the best we can for these little people in our care? Then, when the little humans walk in after school and one by one they bring me their reports, achiever badges and prefect badge, I am filled with so much pride and emotion. Again, our daily question is answered looking at their reports,” she said.
From children who had never attended any school to a report beaming with 7s and nothing under 90%.

“Yes, we have made a difference. I look at this precious child as he beams with excitement at his 99% mark for mathematics and as he counts all the As, the reality of it all knocks me. Would they even have survived had we not rescued them? No, they were badly abused, raped and forgotten,” said Olivier.
She said if they could overcome what was done to them, then as adults we have to take a leaf out their book and continue fighting day after day. “We simply cannot give up, they won’t allow us to do that, their fight for survival will force us as a team not to give up,” said Olivier.
She thanked Carika Wentzel, Michelle Jacobs and Marius Calitz for taking care of getting them to school safely, helping with homework and so forth. She also extended a thanks to their school for giving these little people a chance. “Thank you for investing in them, for accepting them with open arms and believing in them,” she said.
