In the second fishing competition of the year, the club's James Santowski secured top spot with his 18.6kg couta.

THE Warnadoone Skiboat Club held its bi-monthly fishing competition recently, with prizes going to the top three with the biggest catch as well as a lucky draw winner.

“It was a beautiful day in terms of weather. The surf was challenging for all skippers, however, they managed to launch without any incidents. There were 25 fishermen who entered the competition and with the favourable fishing conditions, most managed to land some fish,” he said.

The winning fish, an 18.6kg couta, was caught by James Santowski. Second place went to Sean Francis for his 14.8kg black muscle cracker and third place went to Rob Warner for his 13.82kg couta.

The total value of the prizes came to over R12 000. The club also gave away a lucky draw prize from one of its sponsors. Henk La Grange won a security gate from Crimestoppers SA / Limax Security.

The committee thanked the anglers and its sponsors; Capricorn Parts, CrimeStopper / Limax Security, Go Fish, Braai & Lawaai, Summerplace Accommodation, RPM Panel & Paint, Fisherman’s Warehouse and Fishing Hole. “Without them, these competitions would not be possible,” added Nell.
