Isipingo police station’s spokesperson, Constable Donald Naidoo, said on the day officers from the Isipingo Task Team were following information regarding the whereabouts of a person wanted in connection with multiple serious cases, including those of murder, attempted murder, robbery and business robbery.
“Upon arrival at the said address at Mohan Road, officers patrolled on foot patrol on the Reunion train line when they were met by a man and his accomplice who then started shooting towards the direction of the police members, who in return retaliated. The suspects were fatally wounded. The deceased were searched and were found in possession of two firearms with magazines, live ammunition, and knives,” said Naidoo.
He commended the work of the Isipingo Task Team, saying the dead suspects had been terrorising the community of Isipingo Rail.
Vispol commander, Lieutenant Colonel Derrick Cyril Cain, urged the community of Isipingo Rail, especially Malabar Hill, to be more vigilant, to report all crimes and share information with the police anonymously if necessary.
