According to a relative who has not been authorised to speak to the media, the body was found in the river after water levels came down.

The relative said Dlomo left her home during the day on March 1, and the family assumed she was going to the shops as she never said where she was going.

“The family later learnt that she had fallen off the Umkomaas River bridge. We don’t know whether she jumped or if it was an accident but we assume it was intentional. We are glad the body has been found,” said the relative.

Dawn Gounden of Renegades Search and Rescue said after water visibility improved following the heavy rains, ground and aerial searches were conducted on March 3 and 4, but turned up nothing.

An inquest docket was opened at the Umkomaas Police Station.
