On February 24, the organisation stopped by Hamilton Makhanya High School in Umbumbulu, engaging learners in discussions on various important topics. In a statement, Uthingo Crisis Centre highlighted its efforts to equip female learners with essential knowledge and support.
“Collaborating with uMbumbulu police, and Lifeline, we held a special girls’ talk where we tackled some important issues that included teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, substance abuse, and sexual abuse,” it said.
The girls were taught to understand the challenges and ways to make informed decisions so that they do not engage in behaviour that might lead to pregnancy, and also how to identify abuse. They were also taught how to identify and deal with the influence of peers in making healthier choices.
“A big thank you to all for their dedication and commitment to positively impacting our community. Together, we are stronger,” said the statement.
