The local author and illustrator was all smiles as she gushed about the overwhelming success of her first book launch.

WINKLESPRUIT graphic designer and now published author, Jennifer Carrol (29), was elated at the launch of her children’s book titled Gabriel the Giraffe: Sleep Over at Grandma at the Coffee Theatre, Doonside on March 1.

The book, which is inspired by her six-year-old son, Gabriel Perestrelo, employs her beloved grandmother’s calming method which helped her fall asleep during childhood.

She was thrilled at the outpouring of support from the community, including local schools and school children. The clear skies and blissful weather allowed the children in attendance to play outside.

“The day was absolutely perfect. I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people from local schools who are interested in having me do readings, which is such an exciting opportunity. The staff at the Coffee Theatre were incredible, going above and beyond to spread the word. I’m so grateful for the overwhelming support from my friends, family, and my publisher, The Infinity Tree, who have stood behind me and this book every step of the way,” said Carrol.

For those who’d like to get a copy, Gabriel the Giraffe: Sleep Over at Grandma is available directly from Carrol via email at Jennifer@theinfinitytree.com, alternatively call 083 304 5970. The book can also be found at Readers Rest Book Store in Warner Beach.
