Thirteen computers, a TV set, two cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen during the break-in, bringing operations at the centre to a standstill. The incident has also affected services provided through the adjoining library and the Human Capital Centre of Excellence.

eThekwini Municipality spokesperson Gugu Sisilana confirmed the closure and said the city is working to restore services as soon as possible.

“We strongly condemn this act of vandalism and theft, which not only hampers service delivery but also inconveniences residents who rely on these essential services,” said Sisilana.

While investigations are underway, residents are advised to make use of alternative facilities at the Craigieburn Sizakala Customer Service Centre or the Mnini Thusong Centre.

She added that the municipality is working closely with law enforcement to investigate the matter and enhance security at the Magabheni centre to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience and understanding,” said Sisilana.

Residents will be informed once services at the centre resume.
