Samantha Roux was convicted on 65 counts of fraud after she stole money meant for the CCPO by diverting it to her personal bank account. Roux was handed a three-year sentence, of which half was suspended for five years on condition that she is not convicted of fraud or any similar offence during the suspension period. She will serve the remainder of her sentence, one-and-a-half years, at Westville Prison.
Another former CCPO employee who was facing the same charges, Logan Naidoo, opted to turn witness and struck a deal to pay back the stolen money.

In a statement, the CCPO said she abused her position of trust within the organisation. It also noted that the conviction demonstrates a strong stance against corruption and fraud within community safety structures.
“This outcome reinforces our commitment to accountability and transparency. No one is above the law,” it said in a statement.
