With local NPOs, private companies and individuals banding together, volunteers made progress ticking off the list of necessary plumbing, electrical and general needs at the home.
On behalf of the residents and Jona Vaughan Parents Association, Charmaine Maas extended deep gratitude to each volunteer who put in the time, effort, blood, sweat and tears into supporting the home.
“We are truly inspired by each and every person’s commitment to making a difference. Please know that your contribution makes a meaningful difference. Your support plays a vital role in helping us to provide for the special needs of the residents,” said Maas.
She said volunteers were able to refurbish the staff change room and bathroom, clean the garden, attend to plumbing issues, install the plinth for a new industrial washing machine and reattach curtain rods.
Furthermore, the nappy room was cleaned, various lighting fixtures were repaired, and trunking was installed for cable management. Cupboard locks were fitted, new signage was hung and repair work was done to dining room tables and perimeter fencing.
“As the saying goes, ‘there is only one way to eat an elephant, a bite at a time.’ That is what we are trying to do at Jona Vaughan Home. We aim to restore the home to its former glory. We look forward to keeping you updated on the progress we’re making with the help of our supporters,” said Charmaine.
