Rescued dog needs urgent surgery to survive

Pet Rescue Isipingo has made an urgent appeal for donations to save the life of a rescued pit bull in need of life-changing surgery.

PET RESCUE Isipingo rescued a lactating female pit bull in Merebank on October 26 after the dog, Sara, sustained severe injuries, including a badly mauled head. Now, the NPO is seeking donations to fund surgery to save Sara’s life.
Nirvana Ramlall, founder of Pet Rescue Isipingo, said that Sara was picked up in Merebank after a local animal lover, Deanin Arendse, brought the dog to her attention.
“I met her at Westville Veterinary Hospital at around 22:00. She is a friendly dog and is collared. The entire right side of her ear was ripped off, and the other was badly bitten. Initially, we were seeking the owner out, but have had no luck. Unfortunately, her diagnosis is not good, and surgery is required to remove the remaining ear tissue. Due to financial constraints, I have relocated her to Montclair Animal Hospital,” said Ramlall.

Sara is a friendly dog. She is collared and Pet Rescue Isipingo is desperately trying to find her family.
She said that the precious dog remains a symbol of resilience. A specialist examined her on October 28 and determined that she requires reconstructive surgery, which is done exclusively at Westville Veterinary Hospital.
The procedure costs around R70 000. “Time is of the essence, and Sara’s well-being depends on our collective efforts. Despite ongoing treatment, her condition worsens with each passing day. We have two options, raise the money for surgery in 24 hours, a challenge which requires our urgent attention and your generosity. The other is to euthanise her,” said Ramlall.
If you are inspired to contribute towards Sara’s cause, WhatsApp Nirvana on 062 633 0544 for banking details. Ramlall assured that all donations will be returned if efforts to raise the money are unsuccessful.
“I urge you to share this post extensively, particularly in surrounding areas, to locate Sara’s owner. She wears a distinctive green collar and possesses a gentle temperament. Please recognise that not everyone has access to Facebook, making it essential to share this post through other channels, such as neighborhood WhatsApp groups. Sara’s owner might be searching for her in a different area, and your help could reunite them. Let’s join forces to provide Sara with a second chance at life. I’m counting on your compassion and support to help her overcome this challenging situation,” said Ramlall.
Any donations made to the non-profit organisation’s rescue account are eligible for a Section 18A tax exemption certificate.
