Resident Joan Walkden said that the project comprises volunteers, Sapphire Coast Tourism, Clean Surf Project (CSP) and Durban Solid Waste (DSW).

She said that the aim is to get residents involved in tidying up and keeping the town clean.

“A few local residents have taken the initiative to clear their surrounding areas, cutting back overgrowth, picking up trash and eradicating weeds. We hope that the project can continue to gain traction,” said Walkden.

Walkden engaged with DSW, securing placement of several concrete waste bins and No Dumping signs, of which there used to be none.

Walkden added that Kings Hardware Winklespruit and Salajees Amanzimtoti donated spray paint for the first beautification project.

She appealed to the community and businesses to join the Station Road Street clean-up on November 14 from 09:00 until 12:00. The clean-up includes litter-picking, trimming of overgrown verges, raking and sweeping.
