There are few more humbling sights than seeing the work done by staff of the home, as well as the Jona Vaughan Parents Association, all of whom tirelessly work to care for residents who cannot care for themselves.
Charmaine Maas and Sharnay Wilhem, of the Jona Vaughan Parents Association, took turns speaking about different aspects of the home, from its substantial needs for everyday running, to plans for the future, both short-term and long-term.
How can you help?
The home’s most pressing needs come in the form of food. Wilhem said that the following are used weekly:
- 15kg of chicken fillets
- 11-16kg of mince
- 6kg of sausages/bangers
- 6kg of polony
- 270 eggs
“We are appealing for a sponsor or group of people to help us with our weekly meat needs at the home. Every donation, no matter the size, is appreciated so very much,” said Wilhem.
