Disadvantaged girls treated with dignity in Isipingo

Teenage girls supported through the Touching Hearts Initiative were treated to a year-end gathering, making the girls feel special and valued.

ISIPINGO’S Touching Hearts Initiative ended the year on a high note when it hosted its final gathering of 2025, celebrating the achievements of its “Ignite Her Hope Project”, a programme dedicated to supporting teenage girls from disadvantaged, abused, and neglected households.

The project, held monthly at the Scarlet Thread Ministries Youth and Hope Centre in Orient Hills, provides girls with sanitary packs, meals, and life-skills guidance. Pastors Rakesh and Jasmine Singh, who play a central role in the initiative, said the year-end event on November 22 was designed to make the girls feel special and valued.

The celebration featured games, activities, gifts, snacks, and a buffet meal, all sponsored by the local community. Many residents also donated dresses, shoes, and jewellery to give the girls a “glitz and glamour” experience, while volunteer hairdressers and make-up artists helped complete the transformation.

“The girls had a wonderful time and are very grateful. Together, we can do so much more,” said Jasmine.
