Isipingo Hills power outage drags

The ward 90 councillor said the outage, which lasted a few days, was caused by cable faults in the area.

A POWER outage at Isipingo Hills’ Platt Drive and Azalea Place has affected several residents since the beginning of the year, prompting municipal electricians to work shifts on the problem to try and resolve it.

Ward 90 councillor Shad Nowbuth said the outage, which lasted a few days, was caused by cable faults in the area.
He said eThekwini Municipality electricians from the South depot experienced a challenge as they worked to restore supply.

“The cable network runs through private properties, which was done in the pre-democratic era. Access to one residential property to isolate the network, delayed, as the owner, who recently moved in, was not at home. Several telephone calls to various stakeholders, including the Isipingo police, were made, and the owner was traced. He rushed home to allow entry into his property,” said Nowbuth.

After this, technicians and fault locating teams went on the property and commenced the work of identifying the fault.
At the time of publishing Nowbuth said the fault had still not been identified, and the technicians were still working to identify it.
