Planned system upgrades may affect electricity services

Residents are advised to purchase prepaid electricity tokens in advance to avoid inconvenience.

ETHEKWINI Municipality has announced planned system upgrades by its Energy Management Directorate’s information and communication technology services, which may temporarily disrupt certain electricity services.

The municipality said maintenance work on the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system will take place from 20:00 today (January 16) until 06:00 on January 17.

During this period, electricity vending services may be affected, potentially impacting customers who rely on prepaid electricity.

Residents are advised to purchase prepaid electricity tokens in advance to avoid inconvenience. The municipality has apologised for any disruption that may be experienced during the planned maintenance.
