The vibrant atmosphere showed why the club continues to grow from strength to strength. The club’s Suzette Pretorius excitedly added that the day saw enthusiastic visitors and loyal members alike actively involved.

“The theme for the month, ‘Celebration,’ invited artists to interpret the concept in any medium of their choice. The result was a wonderfully diverse display of artworks, ranging from bold acrylic paintings to delicate mixed media pieces. Each entry reflected a unique perspective on what celebration means,” said Pretorius.

Club chairperson Patricia McCann and her eponymous “Pat’s Challenge,” saw the artists challenged to create a piece on a Native American warrior in monochrome. The monochromatic approach using different tones of a single colour brought depth and drama to the impressive entries.

Pretorius added that a highlight of the day was the airbrush demonstration by Eastes. Armed with stencils and a paint-loaded compressed air gun, the artists all had the opportunity to try the medium themselves, making for a refreshing and inspiring experience.
