EDITOR – The recent utterances of a supposedly enlightened Cyril Ramaphosa are further confirmation of the fact that the ANC does not have single leader of the calibre of Nelson Mandela.
This absence of leadership quality probably explains why they continually exploit the personage of a frail Madiba, in such an unseemly manner.
Ramaphosa warns the residents of Limpopo to vote ANC, otherwise ‘the boers will come back to control us’. Such crude rhetoric is typical of a failed government. They do not have the answers, the ability or the values and standards, so, the more they fail, the more they lash out. Mind you, shamelessness is very much part of ANC character.
We could ask comrade Cyril how it is that he has achieved such great personal wealth in a relatively short space of time, while millions of his brethren languish in abject poverty. We could ask the former union leader, now mining magnate, why so many union members died in the dust at Marikana. We could ask, but what would be the point?
Being an astute businessman, perhaps Mr Ramaphosa can explain why South Africa is ranked last in the recent Standard Chartered Developed Index (SCDI), way below Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda and Kenya? After all, there was a time when we were regarded as the most advanced country on the continent. I don’t really expect an answer, but let’s just hope he doesn’t blame the ‘boers’.
