EDITOR – As residents in and around School Road, we appeal to the South Coast Sun to assist us with an inquiry to the ongoing (since 2013) water loss and low pressure of water supply to School Road, Thomas Holstead and surrounding areas.
Since the upgrade of the water supply pipes in School Road, we are experiencing constant problems, monthly and sometimes two to three times a month, with water supply in this area.
I have tried to contact eThekwini Water on numerous occasions to get to the bottom of this problem, but as per usual the standard answer is: “We are working on it and sorry there is nobody else that can help you”.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Once again I ask the question, is it incompetency?
It seems that the installation/upgrade of new pipes were a mess from the beginning and all they do currently is patch it up.
Is this what we call job creation and incompetency?
It is actually funny – if you do not pay your water bill they are quick enough to cut your water supply, but if they have a constant problem providing the water supply to consumers, we just have to live with it and do not dare to complain.
There is nothing worse than to wake up in the morning to get ready for work and you can’t have a shower or bath. It is now two days in-a-row without any notice.
Every time, without fail, when there is a water supply problem and eThekwini Water tries to fix it, the pressure is so high that residents actually experiencing water leaks due to the pressure coming through and then be ready to receive a letter stating: “We have noticed that your water usage is higher than normal, thus your deposit has been increased, so please check for water leaks’.
We would appreciate your assistance in getting to the bottom of the poor public service we receive from eThekweni Water and why the problem can’t be sorted out once and for all.
