EDITOR – I don’t think I’m alone in sharing my frustration as to the lengthy delay it’s taken in the sinkhole on the N2 before the Adams Road turn-off being repaired.
It is causing such a problem at rush hour when everyone is trying to get home.
I am not so sure what will happen but I know the schools won’t be too impressed having to wait for parents to arrive sometimes at 6pm or later to collect their children. Most of all it is unfair that our children have to wait such a long time before they are finally at home and able to sit down to a meal after a very long day at school. Something has to be done.

I am a resident of Amanzimtoti and I work in Durban while my children attend a local Toti school. Since the sinkhole appeared, it has caused complete chaos on the road in getting home in the evening. Aftercare at my children’s school closes at 5.30pm and there is no other way of collecting my children apart from me getting to them.
Last week, there was road repairs and resurfacing work being carried out from Galleria towards the fire station, which also caused massive gridlock. I got to my children incredibly late and this is not the first time.
I have had enough of the situation and I would like to know what is being done about the repair to the sinkhole. I’ve tried emailing the city council, however the mail bounced back saying the mailbox was full.
N2 sinkhole site of crashes as SANRAL focuses on repairs
It cannot be expected that South Coast road users must accept the ongoing inconvenience. This is also increasing the number of accidents on our roads. Some drivers became impatient and made a turn across the middle of the highway onto the other side and I was very nearly involved in an accident due to this.
This needs to be resolved as soon as is possible.
