EDITOR – To all those students out there who are striking, it is unfair.
Think of the others who pay their fees and are now losing out on the education they pay for because of what you are doing.
Think of the students who still have to attend university. You are ruining their chances of having a university to attend.
Think of yourselves, you students are striking to drop the university fees but in actual fact, you are wasting time, your parents’ money and cheating yourself of education. It is all your choice, you either carry on striking and lose precious education or you can pay the fees, get the education you need and become something.
How would you feel when the time comes and your children have finished grade 12 and are looking for a university to attend? Would it not make you feel guilty because they can’t find a good university and it was your fault that they will suffer?
Remember that if you damage your university, where will the money for the rebuild come from when you don’t want to pay for education? University is not compulsory, it is a privilege.
Think of what you have to lose, don’t be foolish.
A wise man once said “It is a long walk to freedom” – long walk as in paying fees and freedom is when you have a good job and you are successful. Then you will say “It was worth paying the fees”.
