Tourist-centric advice for South Coast towns

Elderly and disabled people would really appreciate hand rails on all ramps, staircases and so on as it is difficult to walk in many places.

EDITOR – The South Coast towns may get more out-of-season visitors if they advertise and publicise which beaches have lifesavers on duty on weekdays and weekends during the low seasons.

Also publicise whether any beaches are regularly patrolled by police or law enforcement officers.

Small improvements could also be made, for example by replacing the missing bricks on the main stairway leading to Scottburgh main beach.

Elderly and disabled people would really appreciate hand rails on all ramps, staircases and so on, as it is difficult to walk in many places. Ensure that all road signs are clearly visible and not obscured by trees and such, and that these have signs placed so that visitors are able to see in advance which traffic lanes they should use. At shopping centres and mall exits, road signs should indicate the names of the towns together with the names of the local roads.

These small things will benefit road safety and prevent road rage and accidents. Remind your local residents that tourists bring in money and create jobs.
