Sandy beach run tests athletes’ mettle
The team posted some excellent results with Chris Stange fourth overall and second in his age group 55.44.

A GROUP of sand crabs from Toti Athletics Club participated in Saturday's Sandy 14km beach run from Umhlanga, with a crossing over the Umgeni River ending at Pirates SLC in Durban.
The team posted some excellent results with Chris Stange fourth overall and second in his age group 55.44.
Lennord Beets in a time of 1.02 was 11th overall and first in his age group. Cecil Clarke's time of 1.32 saw him come second in his age group, while others who did well were Yolanda Brooderyk 1.32, Fiona Mennell 1.33 and Belinda Stange 1.58.
A group of athletes completed the Mandela Marathon last Sunday. The demanding route and very warm conditions tested all the athletes. Well done to all who finished.

The club is going to support the 15km Mineshaft run and walk hosted by Queensburgh AC on 29 September at 6am. Entry is R50 and the aim is to have at least 40 athletes on the day so all Comrades runners need to come out of hibernation and enter.
This year's Goss and Balfe Marathon is strictly a pre-entry, for which entries close on 30 September. The race is on Sunday, 6 October at 6am. A free train ride will take the 21km athletes to Illfracombe station and the marathon runners to the start in Scottburgh. Both races end at Hutchison Park. Entry fee is R130 for the marathon and R90 for the half marathon All athletes will receive a goodie bags and T-shirt. Cut-off time for the marathon is 5.30pm and for the half marathon, it's 3.30pm. BOX – AMANZIMTOTI Athletic Club is proud to announce that 16 of its club athletes were selected to represent KZN at the SA cross-country championship which will be on 14 September in Potchefstroom.
Congratulations to all of them and the club wishes them all the best at the national championships.
The athletes are Noel Saville, Ron Sayer, De Villiers Oberholzer, Cecil Clarke, Lawrence Herron, Thierry Pletinckx, Robert Gcaba, Xolani Nocanda, Jade Blake, Lisha van Onselen, Hlengiwe Zuma, Senzo Ngcobo, Wah Hlengwa, Anele Blake, Lindo Cele and Lee-Anne Blake.
Saturday saw the first sub-youth (7-15 years) league take place at Kings Park in Durban. The weather wasn't perfect as strong winds affected all the results, but despite the weather, the club's juniors did exceptionally well. The best performances came from Senzo Ngcobo (first boys 15, 3,000m and 1,500m), Hlengiwe Zuma (first girls 15, 1,500m), Anele Blake (third girls 15, 200m), Trevor Hlengwa (second boys 15, 3,000m), Emma Pretorius (third girls 11, 1,200m), Stefan Vosloo (third boys 11, turbojavelin), Innocent Nxele (third boys 15, 1,500m) and Lee-Anne Blake (first girls 13, 1,500m). Well done to all other athletes who took part. They include Mikaela Lewis, Erin West, Lindo Cele, Gideon Stigling, Jason Wagner, Ruan Vosloo, Vickey Hanekom, Maya Pretorius, Dominique Snyman, Casey Britz, Alicia Potgieter, Miyanka Bester, Alexander Visser, Charlene Delport, Skye Taljaard, Sipho Hlongwa, Morne Nel, Jean Potgieter, Faye van Wyk, Tyrique Naidoo and Jordan Young, The club also thanks Riaan Vosloo, Tronel Nell and George Bradley who help these athletes with their weekly coaching. – BOX
