Toti 3rds’ Carson demolishes Merebank

The inconsistent bounce (or lack thereof) saw the demise of the top order for very little.

THE script could not have been written better for Toti’s Dean Carson claiming a superb hat-trick, playing in the Toti 3rds cricket match against Merebank 1sts.

Winning the toss, Toti batted first on a diabolical track.

The inconsistent bounce (or lack thereof) saw the demise of the top order for very little.

At 7 for 3 then 21 for 4, Toti were teetering on a major collapse. In strode Kevin Machaux. A superb knock of 33 not out not only steadied the ship but put Toti in a winning position.

A good supporting knock of 14 from Kevin Wherle saw Toti reach a very competitive 73 for 6 after the allotted 30 overs.

Chasing the 73, Merebank were soon in deep trouble, with the top order back in the pavilion. Dean Carson’s man of the match performance saw him claim 5 wickets for 9 runs off the allotted 6 overs. This, including an almost unheard of hat-trick. A superb spell of pace bowling. All bowlers managed to get among the wickets. Paul Van Vuuren finished with 1 for 7 from 4, Andrew Dickason with 2 for 9 from 3 and Neil Woolridge with 2 for 2 from 0,4 overs.

Merebank never managed to recover from the early wickets and succumbed to Toti, losing by 46 runs in only 13.4 overs.
