Cardinals Promo outlast Ashley

Score keepers kept busy as combined, the two teams amassed 21

COREBOARD operators were busy at Toti on Sunday as the Cardinals Baseball Club and Ashley combined to tally a total of 21 runs.
Cardinals eventually won the offensive battle 11-10 in four innings.
The teams combined for 17 hits, including eight extra base hits.
Cardinals scored six runs in the first inning to build an early lead. Ashley scored on an RBI single by Mark Hollenby, a two-run home run by Glen White, and a steal of home by Dale Coetzee in the first inning, but unfortunately, Ashley wasn’t able to take the lead back despite scoring five runs in the fourth frame.
Trevor Campbell got the win for the Promo Cardinals.
He allowed four runs over 1 1/3 innings.
Trevor struck out none, walked four and gave up four hits.
Cardinals were sparked by Trevor and Ray Merrick, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.
Cardinals built upon their lead with three runs in the fourth. A ground out scored Brian Seach to get Cardinals on the board in the inning.
Robbie Dos Santos also pitched a tight frame only allowing one run in and getting three strike outs, his pace was too much for Ashley to handle. Richard Berry closed for Cardinals holding Ashley to within one run to clinch the victory.
Mare of the match was given to Keith for his strike out.
Man of the match was Brian Search for his good all-round performance on the day.
Cardinals were not so lucky the previous week when they played Super Kings and got hammered 11-0.
Cardinals will have to work hard over the next few weeks if they want to stay in contention for any silverware.
Finally, Cardinals Baseball Club would like to wish Ray Merrick all the best, as he is leaving to work in Johannesburg.
He will be sorely missed on the field.
