Toti United gain experience, exposure on Johannesburg tour

It was a tough, but valuable weekend of competition for Toti United Football Club, which competed in the Easterns LFA Festival.

TOTI United Football Club took on some of the strongest youth teams in the country at the 2026 Easterns Local Football Association (LFA) Festival in Johannesburg from October 2-4 and returned home with valuable experience.

The football festival saw LFA representative squads made up of the best players from their affiliated clubs.

Toti United FC’s Val Naidoo said that this year’s event included teams from the Easterns LFA, Rand Central LFA, Southerns LFA, in addition to provincial school squads, including the KZN Schools team.

“Toti United entered the festival as a club, making the challenge even greater. The club travelled overnight from Durban, departing at 21:00 and arriving in Johannesburg at around 05:00. Despite the long journey and limited rest, the players, coaches and managers prepared for their matches and took on the challenge with determination,” said Naidoo.

Producing the club’s best results, the U12 side won two of their six matches, collecting six points. The U13 and U17 teams both won one of their six matches.

“The women’s team also put in strong performances despite their results not reflecting their efforts. They won one of their six matches but dominated possession in many of their games and created numerous scoring opportunities. Their main challenge was converting those chances, with several matches decided by narrow one-goal margins,” said Naidoo.

She added that for many of the young players, the trip was their first experience of a tournament at this level, providing them with the opportunity to learn valuable lessons from high-quality opposition.

“Toti United returned home with plenty to work on, but also with memories and experience that will contribute to the club’s continued development. The players are already looking forward to returning to Johannesburg next year,” concluded Naidoo.
