Winkle women bowlers finish second in inter-club league section

In last week's club competition results, round two of the men's nominated pairs, Sonny Brunsdon and Andre Gelderblom beat Alan Raubenheimer and Des Robarts.

WINKLESPRUIT Bowling Club reports that the final results of the women’s inter-club league section four were: First Durban A, second Winklespruit A, third Amanzimtoti C, fourth Westville CC B, fifth Umhlanga A and sixth Mt Edgecombe A.

Well done to the Winklespruit women, who made the club proud.

The club looks forward to seeing them in division three next year.

Last Wednesday, 11 June the Clearwater Spur twinkle trips competition took place. The overall winners were Jenny Greenslade, Annatjie Boag, and Wilma Riger, while Estelle van der Merwe, Gladys Yelland and Elmarie Young claimed a session prize. The mystery prize went to Sandy Snyman and the 100 board winnings to Pam Chalder-Royle.

Last Thursday, 12 June the monthly Kwik Spar men’s trips took place and the overall prize went to Ian Crouch, Duncan Wright and Peter Labuschagne, with the second session going to Brad Cox, Jeff van Belkum and Kokkie de Kock. Brian Pescoe won the 100 board.

In the Sunday, 15 June, Eagle Canyon Spur mixed 2-4-2, the first session prize went to Paul and Jeanette Els, with the second session prize going to Elaine Critchlow and Brian Bodley. The overall prize went to Bill Rawlinson and Susan Erasmus.

On Saturday, 21 June it’s the the Saturday morning monthly 2-4-2. Let Brian Farmer know if you cannot play.

On Thursday, 26 June, it’s the men’s 2-4-2 starting at 9am. Advise Mike Kruger on 031-903-2255 or 082-788-6429 if you are unavailable to play.

In the men’s senior singles, Martin Young beat Alan Raubenheimer. With cardings on the board and club competitions still outstanding, make an effort to play. Keep in mind the Scottburgh tournament is from Monday, 4 August to Friday, 8 August and there will be no club competitions played during that week.

The club’s AGM will take place on Saturday, 30 August, and club fees are due before Friday, 1 August.

Congratulations to Elaine Critchlow on winning the Friday, 13 June attendance draw. Aubrey Toy won the wheel of fortune. The monthly meat voucher was won by Sylveigh Anamadis of Winklespruit BC.

Birthday wishes are sent to Norma Raath, James Poultney, Sue Welch and Bill Rawlinson. To members who are ill, the club wishes them a speedy recovery. Good bowling to all.
