Nautical Mile sails away from Silver Dollar in pool league stakes

Reef D was definitely on top of their game against Ollies A as they led by 2 points in the first round

SAPPHIRE Coast pool league results from Wednesday, 3 September:

Ollies C and Ollies B’s first round ended evenly, but the C team turned up the heat and led by two points by the end of the second and by four points by the last singles match, after the third round play drew even. Ollies C’s Buhle Maseko and Thoban Shezi took three of their four games as did opponent Adrian Naidoo. With the match already in Ollies C’s favour, an extra point in the doubles games gave Ollies C a comfortable 11-7 victory.

Reef D was definitely on top of their game against Ollies A as they led by two points in the first and took Ollies D for a clear second round. By the end of the third round, Reef D had already won the match. Ollies A managed only three more points. Reef D’s Clint Mooiman took a splendid full house, with team mates Johnny Roets and Wayne Mackay each taking three of their four games. Split doubles points gave Reef D an effortless 13-5 victory.

An even first round for Warnadoone C versus their D team caused opponents to regroup. Warnadoone D relinquished one point in the second round. By the end of the third round, it was anyone’s match. The D team took the bull by the horns and won the last singles game, ensuring glory. The D team’s Jody Naidoo scored a grand full house and opponents Warren Smith and Gareth Smith each took three of their four games. A split in the doubles left Warnadoone D with a hard-earned 11-7 victory.

Warnadoone A took the first and second round against Moulin Rouge B. By the end of the third round, Moulin B was in trouble and while they fought back valiantly, the last crucial winning point was lost. Warnadoone A’s Joseph Jacobs took a fantastic full house and opponent Siya Zungu took three of his four games. A split in the doubles took Warnadoone A ahead to a close 10-8 victory.

Nautical Mile A was shown no mercy as Silver Dollar A took charge of the match and scored point after point, allowing only two points in the fourth round to Nautical Mile A. Petrus Naudé and Nico Davies took full houses with Barry Hill and Andries Coetzer taking three of their four games and both doubles games to score an annihilating 16-2 victory.

Kingsburgh Sports took the first two rounds against Warnadoone B. An even third round and the fourth round win put Kingsburgh Sports already winning the match. Kingsburgh Sports’ Donovan Bowen, Theo Stokes, Mark Smith and opponent Denis Linden each took three of their four games. A split in the doubles points gave Kingsburgh Sports a convincing 12-6 victory
