Two epic battles see Twini Park FC seconds through to cup final

The semi-final on Friday night and Twini had to travel to Pinetown to face an Ashley side that has only suffered three defeats all season.

ON Wednesday night last week Twini Park Football Club played host to the Blues from Pietermaritzburg.

The game was up and down for both teams but it seemed the travelling had taken a bit out of the visitors.

Twini scored late in the first half and it looked as though they were destined to go through in normal time but when the Blues came back with a well worked goal from a corner kick, the game took a turn and saw the Blues applying immense pressure on Twini’s back line.

The line stood firm and weathered the entire extra time period. Both teams took 10 penalties each before the deadlock was broken and saw Twini win through to the semi finals 7-6 on penalties.

For the semi-final on Friday night, Twini had to travel to Pinetown to face an Ashley side that has only suffered three defeats all season.

With it all to play for, Twini once again took an early lead and held it for quite some time until Ashley broke through and scored the equaliser, 1-1 was the full time score and extra time saw no change in the score. Once again Twini were going to have to do things the hard way.

With the keeper pulling off some fantastic saves, the game ended 3-1 on penalties and Twini are through to the cup final on Saturday and are looking for their first cup win in almost six years.
