IN the women’s trips at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club (ABC), the winners were Doreen Salmond, Bobby Stewart and Adrienne Robbins; and the runners-up were Vera Broskie, Dalene Pretorius and Jacqui Fouché.
The second session went to Maureen van der Poel, Jean Snyman and Wendy Shawe. Heather Brown won both the 100 board and the spider; R124,80 was raised for Hospice from the spider. Thanks as always to Allen Hawkins of Victory Spar for his sponsorship.
At TGIF, Noreen Butler won the 100 board; and Gwynn McLeod was present to win the attendance draw. Next week’s draw will revert to R100 again. In the key draw Talla and Lesley had the lucky number for the key; however the key wasn’t the lucky one and did not fit. Buy your tickets early as the key draw will be worth around R5,000 on Friday.
Fortunately the first round of potato trips was played without weather interruptions. Thanks to Jerry Gertzen for sponsoring the potatoes. Jackie Holdrick won the chocolate draw,
In the women’s drawn fours, Heather Brown, Pam Chalder-Royle, Adrienne Robbins and Margaret van Belkum beat Julie Sutherland, Lynn Joubert, Marie van der Walt and Karen Shepard; and Marion Crouch, Jeanne Alexander, Tokkie de Kok and Lys McDonald defeated Robyn Hutton, Elmarie Young, Maxien Barnes and Bernie Bretherton. Heather and Marion and teams will now face each other in the final; good bowling to all.
In the women’s mutton, the winners were Mardi Dovale, Jean Snyman, Jacqui Fouché and Linda McGregor; runners-up were Elsie Walker, Yvonne Wright, Maureen van der Poel and Debbie Groom. The first session was won by Robyn Hutton, Denise Bingham, Nicky Stirzaker and Leonie Mills; and the second session went to Jeanne Alexander, Heather Brown, Maggie Robertson and Margaret van Belkum. The winners of the men’s mutton were Ian Crouch, Lofty van Tonder, Adie Fuller and Jeff van Belkum; and Coy Schrauwen, Ray Robinson, Peter Barnes and John Allers came second. The first session went to Clive Hambley, Duncan Wright, Doug Walton and Hennie van der Poel; and the second session winners were Barry Simpson, Jock Meldrum, Bill Williams and Boet Els.
Well done to Gaynor Snyman who has won through to the third round of the PN novice singles; good bowling in the next round. Congratulations to ABC and the committee of Alec and Nicky Stirzaker, Jackie Holdrick, Liz Morgan-Davies, Dallas Davis, Brian Crause, Julie Sutherland, Mike Groom and Margaret van Belkum on being awarded the Bunny Baumgart trophy by Port Natal Bowls for the best general standard of administration of a club in the district.
Please note there will be no Big Chicks in February as the greens are being used in the Port Natal trips competition on Sunday, 15 February. Remember Sunday, 1 February is our next Barflies morning, all welcome. New and aspirant bowlers can borrow bowls, please wear flat shoes. Watch the board for cardings for competitions. The list is on the board for the Easter mixed fives competition.
Happy birthday wishes are sent this week to Amanda Ninow and Jackie Holdrick. Get well soon to all members who are not well at the moment.
