Mambas pay respect to Madiba’s legacy
Roadies managed to get in a few kilometres of training for the 2016 aQuelle Tour Durban race, which is on 24 April.

THIS past weekend offered a momentous race for South Africans – the Marriott Freedom Race.
Riders had a choice of entering the two-day team ride which is for the more experienced cyclists (± 60km/day) or the one-day individual ride which was over a slightly shorter course (40km).
A few Amanzimtoti Cycling Club Mamba riders chose to ride the one-day ride and thoroughly enjoyed paying respect to Madiba’s legacy while having fun at the same time.
On Sunday, they rode in perfect riding conditions and started at a reasonable time of 8am from eNanda Adventure Centre. The riders then headed along a short road section to Molweni Village where they then turned off onto beautiful single track routes and headed along the rivers and tributaries towards Durban. They finished the 40km route with a gentle ride along the Durban Promenade, finishing on the Suncoast sundeck. Following are some of the Mambas’ times:
Gareth Weitz 1.51.35, Garreth Keet 1.55.54, Anton Booysen 2.01.22, Imke Potgieter 2.04.13, Werner Hefer 2.07.02, Petrus Du Plessis 2.17.55, Trevor Watson 3.01.01.
Other Mambas who are training hard for Sani2C enjoyed riding the cool and misty trails of Virginia on Saturday and perfect weather conditions at Rocky Bay on Sunday, while the Roadies managed to get in a few kilometres of training for the 2016 aQuelle Tour Durban race, which is on 24 April.
