Cross country athletes kick up dust in Pinetown
Weekly time trials are on Wednesdays with walkers starting at 5.30pm and runners at 6pm (both over 4km or 8km).
AMANZIMTOTI Athletics Club thanks all those who have volunteered to assist in marshaling the cycling race this Sunday, 10 July.
Well done to everyone who took part in the Pinetown cross country this past weekend.
It was good to see so many Amanzimtoti AC athletes taking part.
- Women: 40+ Thobekile Zama.
- Grandmasters: Devilliers Oberholzer, Cecil Clarke, Ron Sayer and Noel Saville.
- Vet men: Thobani Mntungwa, Warren Gibson and Xolani Nocanda.
Upcoming races: 10 July – Forest 10km run/walk. Entries can be done on 9 July from 2pm to 5pm or on race day from 5am to 6.30am. Cost is R90 and late entries R100. The race starts at 7am.
17 July – Totalsports women’s race, with pre-entries closing on 8 July. This is a 10km run/walk and a 5km run/walk. The race starts at Berea Rovers Sports Complex at 8am.
Entries for the Goss and Balfe Sapphire Coast Marathon on 16 October are now open. This is a pre-entry race, with a closing date of 8 October. Go to www.eventtiming.co.za/gossbalfe
Club members cannot participate in race. A helpers run will take place where members can use their times as a Two Oceans or Comrades qualifier.
A reminder that Amanzimtoti AC will host the KZN cross country champs on 13 August at Hutchison Park. The club will be calling for volunteers to assist on the day.

Reflective belts are mandatory for time trials.
Weekly time trials are on Wednesdays with walkers starting at 5.30pm and runners at 6pm (both over 4km or 8km). Visitors are always welcome to join and should meet at the clubhouse at Hutchison Park. On Saturdays there is an 11km run and walk from the clubhouse at 5.30am for walkers and 6am for runners. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served afterwards.
