Winkle SLC nippers outdo themselves in weekend contests
The next major event at Winklespruit is the annual Winkle-Toti- Winkle Surf Ski Race and Beach Run from Winklespruit to Amanzimtoti and back to Winklespruit on 16 December starting at 8am (please note the change in start times).

LAST weekend was all about nipper competitions at Scottburgh on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday Winklespruit Surf Lifesaving Club’s nippers competed for their respective schools in the first ever inter-school nipper competition and achieved some great results.
The competition was won by Amanzimoti Primary School by one point over Scottburgh Primary School.
This certainly motivated the children for the KZN South nipper competition which took place on Sunday. Winklespruit nippers certainly did not disappoint, especially taking into account the number of children affected by the stomach bug which has been doing the rounds lately. The number of children who achieved great results and medals are too many to mention but nipper officer Gary Barber was delighted to see the absolute joy on their faces when they proudly displayed their medals on the beach.
The outstanding results were as follows, U9 boy competitor – Channing Bedford first and Josh Worthmann third, U10 girl competitor – Madison Thies 3rd, U11 boy competitor – Keith Ward first, U11 girl competitor – Kendell Deysel third, U12 boy competitor – Dylan Barber first and Matthew Maree second, U12 girl competitor – Megan O’Connor second and U13 girl competitor – Jessica Erasmus second and Lanesca Grobler third. Well done to all and especially Channing, Keith and Dylan on their outstanding performances. Winklespruit achieved a third place in the U10 age group, second place in the U12 age group and second place in the U14 age group. Overall Winklespruit finished in third place behind winners Warnadoone – well done to them.
On Sunday Cole Nel, Brittney Luther, Kegan Lloyd and Denzil Van Der Westhiuzen passed their IRB crewman’s award – well done to all.
The next major event at Winklespruit is the annual Winkle-Toti-Winkle surf ski race and beach run from Winklespruit to Amanzimtoti and back to Winklespruit on Saturday, 16 December starting at 8am (note the change in starting time). There is also a short course beach run and walk to Warner Beach and back. As normal there will be prizes for the winners as well as lucky draw prizes for all competitors. There will also be some beach activities and food on sale at the clubhouse. The public is invited down to Winklespruit Beach to enjoy the activities. See you on the beach.
