Natalie reigns as the monthly mug winner

Natalie Singer turned in a four better than handicap score of 69 nett.

DESPITE the day beginning with persistent rain and rather ominous looking skies, nearly 30 avid golfers arrived and teed off in the monthly Medal Stableford competition at Umkomaas Golf Club.

They were rewarded with ideal cool golfing weather and only a few short minutes of sprinkled rain mid-round.

The results were mixed with some golfers struggling to navigate the heavy air, lack of run and wet greens caused by night-long rainfall. All were rewarded, however, with the most spectacular rainbow that arched over the clubhouse just before prize-giving.

The Monthly Mug, sponsored by Halfway Toyota Malanda was awarded to Natalie Singer who turned in a four better than handicap score of 69 nett. She also took the A division prize with 40 points and shared the two club pool with Francois Rossouw who also managed a birdie on the ninth hole.

Kivesh Sewpersad scored 69 nett, collecting 37 points to win the B division and Simon van der Bosch took the C division.

Best wishes to those competing next Sunday.

UGC wishes their men’s Allerton side all the best for their league match next Sunday and to Natalie Singer and Sabiha Baucus who will represent South Coast Region Umdoni in the first inter-region knockout match against Durban Swifts at Cato Ridge. Here’s hoping for straight drives and short putts. The club looks forward to reporting favourable results next week.

The club apologizes for an error in last week’s report. The nearest the pin prizes at the March alliance were in fact sponsored by Dave Kemp.

For those interested in joining the club at #TheFriendliestClub, next Saturday’s competition is combined stableford. To book a tee-time for Wednesday or Saturday competitions, or just a social round, call Francois or Charmaine in the Pro Shop on 039-973-1042.
