“I was introduced to the sport by my dad at a young age. I have been competing for five years and have three years of regional experience,” he said.

For Moodley, pool is more than just a game – it is his ‘happy place’ where he can fully immerse himself. His achievements include earning KZN Colours as a manager two years ago, and this year, he aims to secure a top 10 spot out of about 1 000 participants.

Ultimately, his dream is to represent South Africa internationally by earning Protea Colours. He shares a special bond with his father, who is also his coach, over the sport and even has a pool table at home for practice and bonding. Moodley trains about five days a week and emphasises the importance of hard work and dedication for success in the sport.

Understanding the unpredictability of the game, Moodley values sportsmanship and perseverance. He shares a memorable moment of being labelled ‘The Underdog’ by the Gauteng side after a remarkable comeback in a match.
