The unique tournament saw six teams selected from a pool made up of Dolphins, KZN Cricket Union Club, schools and hubs players, to compete in a high-intensity format.

Muhammad Jooma, of Dolphins Cricket, said that the tournament brings players together and allows talented scholars the opportunity to play alongside top club cricketers.

“This year, we are proud to host the tournament at the home of last season’s champions, Amanzimtoti Cricket Club, making use of their premier facilities. The opening weekend was a fantastic showcase of talent, despite Saturday’s rain unfortunately washing out most of the play. Sunday, however, delivered thrilling, high-scoring encounters and outstanding individual performances that highlighted the quality of cricket on offer,” said Jooma.

He said that the competition remains wide open for this coming weekend’s continuation of the bash, with teams contesting strongly for the lead.

“We look forward to more exciting cricket and are confident the tournament will continue to set the tone as the flagship event leading into the club season,” concluded Jooma.

Best Play of the Day awards for the latest weekend were handed out on September 15.

Purple cap (bowling) winners were Zander de Coning and Yuvan Maharaj, while orange cap (batting) winners were Monde Baqwa and Caleb Thomas.
