Mixed bag of results for Amanzimtoti Cricket Club
The club's First, Second, Women's and Veterans’ teams scored a mixed bag of results in matches played at home and away.

AMANZIMTOTI Cricket Club’s (ACC) dynamic weekend showcased victories for the First Team and Women’s Team, a setback for the Second Team, and a friendly match for the Veterans.
The First Team
The First Team travelled to KwaDukuza on Sunday, November 19, to take on Ilembe Cricket Club in Round 2 of the KZN Castle Premier League. Toti skipper Jarryd Michaux won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The club’s scribe, Peter Lonie, said Mo Khan struck twice within 6 overs, leaving Ilembe 13/2. “Michaux then brought the spin of Dylan Labuschagne, Gareth Lonie, Jared Havemann and himself into the mix. Lonie took the next 4 wickets, leaving Ilembe in trouble at 40/6 after 25 overs. Havemann, making his debut for the team, took the next 2 wickets, with opener Luc Jacobs being re-introduced into the attack to clean up the tail. Ilembe were dismissed in the 35th over for 71 runs,” he said.
Chasing 72 to win, Toti opening batsmen, Michaux and Lonie, set out cautiously in chasing the target. Lonie said Michaux was dismissed for 14 in the last over before the lunch break with the score on 34.
“As often happens in a low-scoring game, a little wobble happened, and Toti went from 65/3 to 66/6. It was left to Luc Kanda and Labuschagne to see Toti to the target of 72,” he said.
In the end, ACC won by 4 wickets.
The Second Team
The Second Team travelled to Danville Park on Sunday where they were hosted by Rhythm DHSOB in a 30-overs-per-innings match. ACC batted first and scored 178/7 in their allotted 30 overs with Stephan Hennop top-scoring for Toti with 90 runs.
Lonie said, “Hennop was ably supported by Jandré Fourie who scored 43. Rhythm DHSOB, needing 179 for victory, managed to reach their target in the last over of their innings with the loss of 7 wickets. Kevin Thöle and Suren Govender were the pick of the bowlers for Toti, both with 2 wickets, while Jandré Fourie, Fourie Pieters and skipper Bradley Naidoo picked up a wicket apiece.”
In the end, Rhythm DHSOB won by 3 wickets.
The Women’s Team
The Women’s Team hosted Fam Kwama Cricket Club at Toti’s second oval on Sunday. The visitors batted first and scored 57 runs. “Megan Powell and Aleshia Moll both picked up two wickets, and skipper Danelle Pillay picked up one. Needing just 58 runs to win, ACC’s opening pair of Powell and Genevieve Martin took just 7 overs to reach the required target,” said Lonie.
In the end, ACC won by 10 wickets.
The Veterans’ Team
The Veterans played a friendly on their home ground on Saturday as the outfield was deemed unsafe for an official match due to pools of water caused by the storm the night before.
