Grassroots rugby clash a hit at Amanzimtoti Rugby Club

Rugby fans in Amanzimtoti were all too happy to make a trip to Hutchison Park to see Durban rugby players take on South Coast's stars.

RUGBY passion was on full display at Amanzimtoti Rugby Club (ARC), which proudly hosted an exhilarating match between Durban Rugby Sub Union (DRSU) and Southern KwaZulu-Natal (SKZN) on October 4.

Grassroots rugby’s growth from strength to strength underscored the match as players put on strong performances.

The match saw DRSU, coached by Owen Masinga and Paul Linetts, featuring players from local clubs, including ARC, Hillcrest, and Ballito, dominate SKZN to secure a 38–7 victory.

Dr Mike Mthethwa, ARC president, said that standout performances from Wellem Musarara, Ethan Spowart, and Jarryd Nicols reminded everyone of the talent nurtured in local clubs and the importance of providing opportunities for players to grow.

“Events like these strengthen our rugby family and inspire the next generation. We are proud to be part of this journey and look forward to many more matches that bring our community together through the love of the game,” said Mthethwa.
